Bo Burch - Founder

Bo Burch grew up on a small farm near Lexington, VA and worked within a family construction business prior to entering and completing his undergraduate degree at James Madison University in Virginia.  After graduating with honors from the College of Business at JMU, he also attended Michigan State University’s Labor and Industrial Relations School and is experienced at contracts negotiation, the grievance procedure, mediation, and the arbitration process.

He began his professional career with the MASCO Corporation.  Later he was recruited by International Paper, Coca Cola, Eaton, and Corning, Inc. to lead organizational transformations in highly competitive global markets.  He specializes in sizing up and developing talent to meet the needs of the business plan.  Bo has authored and developed technical and leadership assessment center emphasizing key performance indicators, balanced scorecards that optimize and demonstrate the continuous improvement philosophy.  He has also contributed to a number of articles on the subjects of compensation, rewards systems, and effective leadership and organizational attributes.

Bo is a board Member and the Chairman of the American Red Cross Financial Development Committee of Southeastern North Carolina.  Bo also serves as a board member of the North Carolina World Trade Association.

In 2003, Bo founded Human Capital Solutions, Inc. www.humancs.com in Wilmington, NC.  Bo resides in Wilmington with his wife Marian and their three children Allyson, Abigail, and their son Palmer.

Charles Buckland

Charles is a Chartered Accountant (European CPA) with over 12 years experience with the ‘big four’ accounting firms. Charles has both a bachelors and masters degree in accounting, along with the UK tax qualification Association of Tax Technicians, providing Charles with extensive in depth international accounting expertise. Charles also has developed efficacious marketing and sales abilities having worked for a large banking group marketing a range of financial services and packages. He recently relocated from Cambridge in the UK to Wilmington, NC and currently manages several consulting projects ranging from general accounting to strategic planning and financial management.

Karen Foster

Karen is a Senior Consultant and Executive Recruiter for HCS with over 23 years of industry experience in lean manufacturing, new technology innovation and development, and organizational efficiency. Karen’s expertise also includes safety, health and environmental regulatory compliance, Total Quality Management, Supply Chain and ISO 9000 requirements. Karen holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology.

Susan Herrmann

Susan is a professionally trained performance coach, organization specialist, and lifelong student of personal and organizational learning and change. Susan’s coaching and consulting experience has been focused in areas of personal and professional development, performance effectiveness, organization assessment and strategic business development. She and her clients explore ways to maximize personal and professional performance and create a new path for the future. Susan has extensive experience with small and large organizations to include Honeywell Technology Solutions, Lockheed Martin, and the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency. Susan has an M.S. in Organizational Development from Johns Hopkins University and a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Maryland.

Allison Hunt

Allison grew up in South Central Pennsylvania, but relocated to the Florida panhandle to attend Pensacola Christian College.  She graduated Suma Cum Laude with a BS in Elementary Education which prepared her to be successful in a variety of areas including teaching, writing, web and graphics design, and office administration.  Allison is now putting those skills to work in coordinating and leading multiple offices and recruiting projects. 

Cynthia Simpson

Cindy, a graduate of McNeese State University in Lake Charles, Louisiana and a Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS), was born in Texas and  has lived and worked in Louisiana , Oklahoma and the Washington , D.C. area.  She has extensive experience in human resources and benefits management with both public and private organizations.  This experience has given her a deep appreciation for the relationship between good human resources practices and the success of an organization.  Well-designed job descriptions, performance evaluations, reward systems, and benefit and leave programs create an environment for employees to add value because there is clarity of purpose and responsibility which fosters a sense of partnership and commitment.  Whether it is construction, retail, professional or trade associations, or public entities, when there is value placed on human resources, the organization succeeds.

Christy Adams-Shannon

Christy is a Sr. Consultant bringing over 20 years of business experience ranging from sales and advertising, market assessment, revenue management, and business development. She concentrates her energy and passion to the process of partnering with her clients to identify key areas for improvement, focusing on advancing the existing environment toward its desired future state. Her experience gives her a valuable perspective for working with CEO’s teams, team leaders, or new managers. Christy worked for the SAS Institute, gaining experience in a fast-growing, product and customer focused environment. From there she was recruited by Marriott International in Washington, DC, where she held various management positions for over 12 years. She built and launched new brands and managed corporate marketing and communications. As a Senior Director at Marriott Headquarters, she leveraged her management and leadership skills to motivate people to achieve top performance.

Christy has lived and worked in Germany as an Executive Coach and Consultant. After relocating to Wilmington, Christy graduated with honors from the MBA program at UNCW. Her undergraduate degree is a B.S. in Business Management from N.C. State University. Christy understands the demands of balancing work and family along with fiscal responsibilities, customer satisfaction, and retaining the best employees.
